Asian Film Festival, Oct 6th-15th

September 29, 2011 · Filed under: News

Our friends at the non-profit organization, DC APA Film, are hosting their annual event starting on Oct 6th. DC APA Film is devoted to the film and media arts made by and/or about Americans of Asian/Pacific Islander descent and other Asian diasporic groups from around the world. This 12th annual film festival draws thousands of attendees and is the only one of its kind on the East Coast, and has been covered by The Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine and many international media outlets.

Saigon Electric is the main feature on opening night (preview). Set in Vietnam and filled visually stunning dance sequences, Saigon Electric is a story of friendship, class, love, and dance.

Please come out to support DC APA Film and meet new friends! For more information, please visit DC APA Film

The 2011 FCVN Picnic and Volleyball Tournament at Bull Run Park was again a huge success this year. Despite the 90 degrees weather, nineteen teams competed for six prize levels and trophies. We had plenty of good food to eat, from hamburgers to chicken drumsticks to delicious brownies and cookies. Thanks to all who participated and volunteered. Thank you for your generous donations of money, prizes, ice, food, paper plates & napkins. With your help we were able to raise over $4600 for the children in Vietnam.

Thank you to all the volunteers: Augie Remy, Phoenix Bui, Tammi Kalugdan, Jim Housel, Tim Connolly, Toan Nguyen, Neal Huynh, Tuan Van, Irvin Kalugdan, Terri Le Gray, Linda Tunmatip, Kim Trieu, Sam Yi, RD Sayoc, Quynh Nguyen, Van Le, Brandy Carullo, Angelica Tanglao, Thieu & Huong Dao, Ly Huynh, and Andrew Taylor. Please let us know if we’ve left off any volunteers so we may add them. Each and everyone of our volunteers play a crucial role in making our biggest fundraiser event of the year a huge success.
